Days Like This...

The wind is howling, blowing, storming. Rain again.... and again.... Astoria, to me, is like the home country. Many Americans look back at their lands of heritage with fond eyes. But if the same Americans went back to their homelands and actually lived there, they would understand why their ancestors left the damn place!! Wet, dreary weather, isolation, and hopelessness is what Astoria means to me on days like this. It's like a heavy hand on the back of my neck, pushing my head down while I fight to stand up straight.

I'm sure tomorrow will bring a brighter, better day. But for now, I'm not enjoying this drop in barometric pressure.

Dear Rachel,
I would like to calm you down by saying 'don't think or say that about the weather', but I was having the same doomy feelings before- and weariness when- that truly nasty gusty storm finally hit us today! Where did THAT come from? It was shaking the trees like that hurricane did back in Dec '07!

It is maddening! I mean, it drives you mad! It howls, how it howls!!!

If Heather reads this, we would like her to know that all of those brightly sunny spectacles in her photos are starting to make us want to 'jump a jet plane'!

Oh Well! Let's just have a big laugh!! Turn up the lights (Thanking the heavens above that our power is still on-)-- Turn up the music --And give the 'baby' a Kiss!!

Love from Mom

My old photo appears on this post, unfortunately, gotta fix it...

By the way, people who move here, you have been warned!!!! It takes Hardy,Sturdy Folks to Handle All of This Cold Rain and Wind.... but I really have to think we have so so so much to be grateful for.... Our beaches are beautiful, etc..., our beautiful landscapes are just being DRAMA QUEENS!!

I'm sorrrrryyy Rachel! Yukky weather! I try to explain to people here just what it's like to live in the upper left hand corner of our country, but they don't understand...

Thanks for the kind comments, mom. I bet your side of the hill has taken a real beating. Dylan and I took a short walk around the block yesterday evening and BOY! was it windy! -especially when we got a clear path of wind from the south.

I'm trying to keep my blogs honest and real. I get in the habit of not documenting the bad days as well as the good.

Thanks Heather too! It seems like you are living in a paradise over there. But, even paradise has it's problems too!
