Thanks for the package, Heather! It arrived a bit smooshed, but otherwise intact. I especially like the Panda bear chopping the meat socks!

Capitalism
I just watched Capitalism: A Love Story by Michael Moore. Sooo good! I'm feeling happy about working in a democratic workplace, even though there are kinks and glitches.

Slow Going with Blog Entries
I've been neglecting my duties on entering blogs. Not much has happened, other than I dyed my hair "red wine" and it came out rather nicely. I made a spur of the moment decision one night to use some old dye I had lying around and at first it was a bit intense, but as it's been washing out, it seems to be mellowing. Some may say that my hair has pink highlights now. Better that than blue and grey!
I've been getting lots of compliments a work. And today at the park, another mother asked me where i got my hair done -she liked the color! I told her the story and she said, "Yeah! Rock it!" Pretty cool.
I'll post some pictures when I get the batteries replaced on the camera.

Cutting off your Hair is Hard to Do
Now that I've had time to reflect, my haircut is not so bad. I had a big fit in front of mom and dad when I go home from the haircut. I was so mad and disappointed. But I did not realize how it is so incredibly hard to lose hair. I have only just seen a glimpse of what it must be like to lose hair due to cancer. It's not vanity but rather identity that is lost by cancer patients. I'm really happy to donate my hair. I'm very lucky that i can grow more back.
Haircut .... meh.
So I finally got my haircut today. I guess I built myself up quite a bit, because I was really sad driving home afterward. I decided to try highlights for fun, but they actually turned out blue and gray. And the cut is pretty manish, but what else should i expect when I chop off all of my hair?
I was whiney and upset when I got home. But I took a shower and I'm hoping to wash my hair a few more times so I can get as much of the blue out as possible. I think I'll be wearing my hat to work tomorrow.
However, I did enjoy actually chopping off the hair. And I have it all ready to send in the mail to locks of love.

Haircut Coming Up!
So, I just got a call back from my hair guy, Stan. He's working in Portland now. I have the day set for Friday at 1:30 to get it cut finally!!! I was maybe going to keep it long until September, but I don't think I can handle it any longer.
I'll take lots of photos!

New Car Seat
Dylan is excited to graduate to a "booster" seat - instead of a car seat. He had a lot of fun using the seat belt and buckling himself in. He really wants to do things himself these days.
We took a drive and stopped at the falls. Dylan was impressed. During the drive he was babbling away. He's really into "why" questions. Some questions he asked me - "How long does it take to build the earth?" "I think you squeeze the clouds." "Does the earth turn over and we get off and then we get back on in the morning?"

Goonies in Astoria

This last weekend was the Goonie 25th anniversary. Check out the info on the Daily A website.
Despite being insanely busy at work and slightly annoyed to have all of those Goonies wandering around- it was pretty cool for Astoria to be linked to this movie. I guess they re-created the famous chase scene through Astoria. Corey Feldman, Sean Astin and "chunk" were here. I guess the fans begged chunk to do the truffle shuffle, but he said "no power on earth could make me do it." poor guy- but he's seems very fit now.

Dog Park < Play Park
Dylan and I took Bodie for a walk while Grandma and Grandpa were in Portland today. We stopped at the Hammond beach where I saw the strangest piece of driftwood. It looks like a giant clawed hand or legs or crab legs... I'm not sure.
We also stopped by at the dog park. Some dog owners are interesting - many just sit by the front gate and don't throw balls. They just mill around and talk, and all of their dogs mill around them as well. I was the only out there throwing balls for my dog. One of the owners was remarking on how socialized Bodie seemed. I don't think the other dogs really knew how to interact. The only other dog there that knew how to play was a puppy. Oh, well.
Next we went to Tapiola. Dylan is doing way better at socializing. I figured out that the trick is to help him introduce himself. He had lots of fun playing with this 1st grader named Jerry. They pretended to drive boats, ride motorcycles, sell ice cream and pizza. It was so funny because this little girl (about 3) who was playing with Dylan in the "ice cream shop" called him "honey" when he went out to "buy" ice cream. Dylan said "you stay here. I'm going to the store." and she said "bye, honey!" I heard her mom say "Did she just say honey?" ha ha ha Dylan was oblivious to that.
Dylan was pretty funny too. He reminded me of one of those street vendors in Tijuana. He was yelling out from the window of his "shop" to Jerry saying "Hey you! Hey come over here! Hey come buy some ice cream!" He should go work at a used-car lot! Jerry was funny too and said to me about Dylan "He sure has a deep voice." I sighed. "I know." was all I could say. Dylan really knows how to command with that voice of his. But they all had fun and it was very satisfying to go to the park and NOT have a screaming tantrum meltdown and/or hitting or grabbing incident.

Uno!
I taught Dylan how to play Uno tonight! And he caught on fairly well! Wow! Crazy! This kid is no longer just a tiny scream machine. He's an actual little guy!
Tool Time
Not much has been happening around here. We had a fun time over at Corey's house for dinner last night. Mike seems to be stressing a bit about his end of term paper that's due on Friday. But, he still took some time out to help Dylan figure out the record player. Lots of father/son bonding going on here.
