Cutting off your Hair is Hard to Do

Now that I've had time to reflect, my haircut is not so bad. I had a big fit in front of mom and dad when I go home from the haircut. I was so mad and disappointed. But I did not realize how it is so incredibly hard to lose hair. I have only just seen a glimpse of what it must be like to lose hair due to cancer. It's not vanity but rather identity that is lost by cancer patients. I'm really happy to donate my hair. I'm very lucky that i can grow more back.

And to have a fit about cutting off my hair in front of mom, of all people! She didn't have a choice! Man, I'm such a baby!

What seemed like a 'fit' to you, did not seem like a fit to me... It really seemed like you had some legitimate concerns and you needed someone who could see your new haircut to tell you that you had a cute haircut... Also, it seemed like you were acting as any human would, after a big change...

I remember this from my goofy chemo brain daze:

The Receptionist (who is Chad, a guy who is balding a little bit) at OHSU (at the hospital where I was treated), said: ------ "Eh, Hair... it comes and it goes.....!"

That comment really made my day, gave me a chuckle!

The blue 'lowlights' in your hair are only visible in strong natural light, but I have to say, it is pretty strange that a professional hair person could make such a weird mistake... good thing that you are young enough and work at a place where most people will think that this blue and white hair you will have, temporarily?, looks planned and INTENTIONAL!!

Oh, Rachel, do not feel guilty about anything. You have rights to true feelings... especially diappointing haircuts.

Talk about bad haircuts. Every woman has been there. When the kids were young, I decided to give up smoking. I was contacted by Chicago's ABC T.V. network and filmed for progress. Besides biggest mistake of "not quitting," the next was getting a haircut right before filming. It was really terrible. I cried for two days, my eyes were red/puffy, and crew at one point asked if something was wrong. No kidding! Remember this. You're one of the most beautiful women I know! Thank God, hair grows!
